Research Interest

My research and extension program focuses on developing integrated weed management strategies for Washington State irrigated specialty crops. I work to increase stakeholders’ knowledge of problematic weed species and of both chemical and non‑chemical weed management tools. The research projects my program conducts span from small-plot experiments at IAREC to on-farm trials with growers and industry collaborators, many of which are driven by questions raised by commodity commissions and advisory boards. These efforts provide practical recommendations that reduce crop–weed competition, delay the development of herbicide resistance, and balance the long‑term sustainability of weed management with economic viability. My goal is to help growers choose the best weed management practices for their cropping systems, reduce yield and quality losses caused by weeds, and minimize weed management inputs while maintaining or increasing profitability.
