Seminar – Dr. Michael Walsh – University of Western Australia

We welcome Dr. Michael Walsh from the University of Western Australia to present on the “Impact of Harvest Weed Seed Control on Australian Cropping Systems”

Dr. Michael J. Walsh Bio:
Michael Walsh completed his B.Sc. at the University of Western Australia, M.Sc. from La Trobe
University, Melbourne and PhD from the University of Wyoming. He joined the Australian Herbicide
Resistance Initiative in 1999 where he focused on the development and introduction of harvest weed
seed control systems. In 2016 he was appointed as the Director of Weed Research at the University
of Sydney where he established and coordinated a research program for Australia’s northern grains
region of New South Wales and Queensland. Michael has spent 30 years working on the development
of alternative weed control techniques and believes that recent technological advances are creating
exciting opportunities for the future use of new weed control systems. He was awarded Fulbright
Fellowship to visit KSU and other institutes in the US to collaborate on harvest weed seed control
systems.
