Felix Prinz zu Löwenstein was chairman of the German umbrella organization for producers, processors and traders of organic food for 20 years, representing the organic sector at national level. He is a farmer and managed his family’s 400-acre arable farm in southern Germany from 1986 until handing it over to the next generation in 2014 – organically since 1992.  He still manages a 300-acres forestry operation in Burgundy, France.

After studying agriculture and completing his doctorate, Löwenstein lived and worked with his family as a development aid worker for the Catholic aid organization MISEREOR in Haiti from 1982 to 1985 and then continued to work in development cooperation for short-term assignments. He also served on the board of Naturland Association, from 1998 to 2014.

In his book “FOOD CRASH” – he uses this experience to develop the thesis that only an organic agriculture and food system can make global food security possible on the long run.

He is Chairman of the Advisory Board of MISEREOR and a member of German government advisory boards for development cooperation as well as a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
