SUMMARY:Seminar for Adjunct Nomination - Danielle Gelardi
DESCRIPTION:We will be hosting Dr. Danielle Gelardi a Senior Soil Scientist with the Washington State Department of Agriculture and lead of the Washington Soil Health Initiative on behalf of the WSDA.  Dr. Gelardi will be providing her seminar as a nominee to become a CSS adjunct faculty member titled\, “Soil health\, biochar\, and carbon markets: Building defensible programs amidst the hype”. \nPlease join us for seminars in Clark Hall 149\, with snacks and coffee\, at 2:10 pm or via zoom. \n  \nDr. Danielle Gelardi bio: \nAs the Senior Soil Scientist\, Dr. Dani Gelardi leads the Washington Soil Health Initiative on behalf of WSDA. In this role she researches topics such as how to measure and improve soil health\, how to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and sequester soil carbon\, and how to address regional soil management challenges. She received her Ph.D. and M.S in Soils & Biogeochemistry from the University of California\, Davis\, as a Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) Fellow\, and her B.S. from the University of California\, Berkeley. Her dissertation was on the use of biochar as a soil amendment. Prior to graduate school\, Dani worked with farmers through agricultural nonprofits and advocacy groups.
