SUMMARY:Guest Lecture by Author and Farmer\, Feliz Prinz zu Löwenstein
DESCRIPTION:We have a limited number of seats available for lunch 12-1 pm with Felix. Please RSVP Tammy at t.cunningham@wsu.edu by Friday if you’d like to attend. Let us know if you have dietary restrictions. \n  \nFelix Prinz zu Löwenstein was chairman of the German umbrella organization for producers\, processors and traders of organic food for 20 years\, representing the organic sector at national level. He is a farmer and managed his family’s 400-acre arable farm in southern Germany from 1986 until handing it over to the next generation in 2014 – organically since 1992.  He still manages a 300-acres forestry operation in Burgundy\, France. \nAfter studying agriculture and completing his doctorate\, Löwenstein lived and worked with his family as a development aid worker for the Catholic aid organization MISEREOR in Haiti from 1982 to 1985 and then continued to work in development cooperation for short-term assignments. He also served on the board of Naturland Association\, from 1998 to 2014. \nIn his book “FOOD CRASH” – he uses this experience to develop the thesis that only an organic agriculture and food system can make global food security possible on the long run. \nHe is Chairman of the Advisory Board of MISEREOR and a member of German government advisory boards for development cooperation as well as a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life. \nJoin Zoom Meeting from PC\, Mac\, Linux\, iOS\, or Android \nMeeting ID: 910 5718 5875 \nPasscode: 831712

DESCRIPTION:‘A Multi-Omic Approach for Genetic Mapping and Prediction of Antagonistic Traits’ \nNonoy Bandillo is an assistant professor and project director of the Small Grains Breeding Program at North Carolina State University. He earned his Ph.D. in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed postdoctoral training in quantitative genetics at Cornell University. Prior to joining NCSU\, he was an assistant professor and pulse crop breeder at North Dakota State University. His current research focuses on identifying and characterizing genes in small grains\, particularly wheat\, with an emphasis on improving human health and climate resiliency. Central to his lab’s work are advanced methodologies\, including multi-omics research\, targeted meiotic recombination\, and computational modeling.
