Principal Duties
Provide leadership in turfgrass science research program in western Washington; supervision of turfgrass field research facility and research technical support; coordination of turfgrass field day; providing management-related information to local industry professionals and interacting with professional organizations in order to foster cooperation.
Research
Nitrogen and organic matter dynamics in turfgrass soils; physical and chemical stability of calcareous sands in putting green construction; turfgrass water use; applied research in areas directly benefiting the turfgrass industry.
Future Program Goals
I would like to develop a better understanding of the impact of organic matter in turfgrass systems. This has a major influence on nutrients and pesticide availability and may lead to better use of management inputs. Development of an educational program in turfgrass management in the Puget Sound area.
