How to Apply

To apply for Graduate School in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, please complete each of the following steps:

  1. WSU Graduate School application (http://www.gradsch.wsu.edu/howtoapply.htm) or international student application form (http://www.gradsch.wsu.edu/internationalapp.htm).
    Applicants may apply online, or choose to print and mail the application to the Graduate School.
    The $50.00 application fee must be attached to the Graduate School application. It cannot be waived or deferred.
  2. Copy of the application: If you fill out an application form by hand, please send a copy to the Department. If you apply online, a copy is automatically sent to the Department and no additional copy is needed.
  3. Supplemental application form for Graduate Studies in Crop and Soil Sciences (http://css.wsu.edu/Student_Info/Application_Forms/Supplemental_Application.htm):  This is an online form. A printed copy is attached to this application packet which you may mail instead.
  4. Statement of professional goals: Please mail to the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences a one-page statement of your professional goals relative to graduate studies. Please address such issues as interests, anticipated thesis research, career objectives, experiences in research and teaching, and financial ability.
  5. GRE scores: Required for international applicants and highly recommended for domestic applicants. Send official scores to the Graduate School, and include a photocopy with your application materials to the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences.

  6. TOEFL scores (international applicants only): An official copy must be sent to the Graduate School, and include a photocopy with your application materials to the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences. Minimum TOEFL score required for admission:  550- written test, 213- computer based test, or 79-internet based test

  7. Three letters of recommendation: The letters must be sent directly from the reference (not forwarded by the applicant) to the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences. Do not include these letters in your application packet, even in sealed envelopes.
  8. Official transcripts:  Applicants should order an official set of transcripts from each university-level school attended. These must be sent directly to the Dean of the Graduate School by the registrar of the institution at which work was done.
