Catlynn (Swan) Salois, B.S. Crop Science, 2003, cat.salois@pioneer.com, Residing at Swanton, OH
After graduating from WSU in the spring, I jumped right into a Masters program at Montana State University in Bozeman. I studied molecular biology and cereal chemistry under the direction of Dr. Mike Giroux. Bozeman was a hard place to leave but in the spring of 2005 graduation was looming and it was time to move on. I was offered a job at Pioneer working with the new low linolenic oil quality trait (low trans fats). So fellow alumni and now husband, Dan Salois, and I packed our bags and moved east. I have now assumed the roll of plant breeder for the Low Lin program in the eastern regions and am loving the new challenges of the job, always plenty to learn! (1/22/06)
Matt Christensen, B.S.Crop Science (turf), 2004, mattchristensen@hotmail.com, Residing at Bend, OR
Upon bidding a fond farewell to the Palouse I accepted the assistant superintendent position at Aspen Lakes golf course in Sisters, Oregon. Located in the central Oregon high desert, the weather is similar to Pullman, with warm summers, cold witners, and a great amount of sun. Besides taking care of the course, I have been spending my free time rock climbing and mountain biking. (12/5/05)
William L. Krogsdale, M.S., 1950, wkrogsdale@cox.net, Residing at Oceanside, CA
Retired
I am enjoying a little golf and some digital photography. We have many pretty roses this year, which are good photography subjects. The CSS News that I received was a very interesting publication. I attended those summer field trips and listened to Dr. Vogel explain about wheat growing. Thanks for sending the news. (4/12/05)
Bob Buman, Ph.D. Agronomy, 1990, bob@agren-inc.com, Residing at Breda, IA
Employed at Agren, Inc., Carroll, IA
I am still single. I worked on a Post Doc at the Northern Grains Insect Lab at Brookings, SD for a year. I then moved to Wisconsin and did GLP Pesticide labeling for a private company for five years. May 1, 1997 I quit my job in Wisconsin and I have worked for my brothers since. Our company, Agren, Inc., does agricultural research. I enjoy working for my bothers. The job is fun because we are always doing different and unique projects. Agren employs seven full time and one part time persons. We have a very good group of people. I bought a house in the town of Breda, IA. which is about 13 miles from Carroll (housing prices are about about $25,000 less there than in Carroll). In my spare time I do a lot of nature photography. I like landscape, wild flower, and macro photography. A number of my photos have been published in several magazines and calendars. Photography and a wildflower garden are my two major hobbies. Shawn C. Frisbee, B.S. Crop Science (turf), 2001, friz@wsucougars.com, Residing at Greenwich, CT
Assisant Golf Course Superintendent, Innis Arden Golf Club
After (painfully) saying goodbye to Pullman in 2001 I've been on the move. I spent a year at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Oregon before moving on to Washington National Golf Club in Auburn. While I was at Washington National, we hosted the NCAA womens national championship golf tournament. After a year there I accepted the job of Assistant Superintendent at Innis Arden Golf Club in Old Greenwich, CT. Being on the East Coast has been a terrific experience. In May of 2003 I worked at Westchester Golf Club during the Buick Classic which is a PGA Tour stop. It was a great opportunity to see what goes into preparing a golf course at the elite level.
Innis Arden is planning a comprehensive renovation project that will encompass every aspect of the golf course. Naturally this is an exciting undertaking for me professionally, that will keep me in one place for a few years. It has been fascinating to work with an architect and be a part of the planning for a major construction project.
Personally, living within a half hour of New York City has given me an opportunity to visit and "experience" the Big Apple. NYC is truly an amazing city and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has thought of visiting.
As wonderful as it has been here, I desperately miss WSU and watching the Cougs in Martin Stadium. I can't find anyone out here that can relate to being a Coug!! I look forward to getting back to the Northwest in a few years, even if that means moving closer to the Huskies!! (4/17/04)
Toby Rodgers, M.S. Soil Science, 2002, toby.rodgers.@wa.usda.gov, Residing at Mt. Vernon, WA
Soil Scientist, USDA-NRCS Soil Survey
Currently mapping soils in San Juan and Island counties. Expected to soon be mapping soils of either Mt. Rainier or North Cascades National Park. Still very much involved with WPSS and travleing as much as I can. I'm hoping for a return trip in Spring '04 to Australia to catch up with all of my old friends from way back. I'm an uncle now with a nephew and two nieces, so trips back home are happily spent with all of my family. (11/17/03)
Tamara Thomas, M.S. Soil Science, 2002, tnthomas@cnw.com, Residing at Woodinville, WA
Self-employed, Terre-Source
Currently, I'm running a business supporting the composting / recycling industry with permit application assistance, facility design, process consulting, and test interpretation. The company is called Terre-Source and also specializes in environmental oversight of contaminated site remediation. I'm enjoying the freedom, the commute, & time for kayaking and my cat! I sure do miss the Palouse - there's no where like it on earth! (05/26/03)!
Ian Wildey, M.S. Soil science, 2002, Thomas.I.Wildey@usa.dupont.com, Residing at Drexel Hill, PA

I am currently working for the E.I. DuPont Company in their crop protection division. I work out of the Stine-Haskell Research Center in Newark, DE. I am really enjoying my job. My wife and I recently bought our first house in Drexel Hill, PA (just outside of Philadelphia). If anyone comes to the East Coast you are always welcome to stay with us, we would love to have you! Hope to see you all at the SSSA conferences. (05/02/03).
Pam Frohne, M.S. Soil Science, 1997, pfrohne@fs.fed.us, Residing at Ketchikan, AK
Soil Scientist, USDA Forest Service
After working with Ann Kennedy for 4 years after graduation, I accepted a job as a soil scientist with the Forest Service in Ketchikan, Alaska. I have been having lots of fun and adventures up here, and I am enjoying learning about forest soils. Someday I'll move back down to the lower 48, but for now I'm loving it up here. (02/03)
Rhonda Bafus, B.S., 1995, bafusr@oregonstate.edu, Residing at Madras, OR
Research Assistant, Oregon State University, Central Oregon Ag. Research Center, http://www.orst.edu/dept/coarc/
After working with Bill Pan for a year after graduation, I moved to Michigan and worked in wheat breeding and genetics. I decided to move closer to home and in 1999, I moved back to the NW to work at a research center in Central Oregon. I enjoy working in several crops and have started a new journey working in pathology of seed crops. Plus....I close enough I can still attend WSU games and see CCS friends.

This December I will travel to Sydney, Australia to assist our Study Abroad Program in developing a course on cities and their environment for DePaul students. I hope to lead this 10-week trip in 2004 or 2005. Gee, I guess I have become a jack-of-all trades and a master of none. I look forward to returning to Pullman for visit sometime. (10/02)
